Our service is available to children between age of 1.5 to 12 years old.

Program Statement

Good Shepherd Day Care Centre believes that children are competent, capable, curious and have great potential. We strive to provide a positive, nurturing, and inclusive play-based learning environment consisting of children, staff, and families that work together for the holistic development of the child.

This program statement is consistent with the Ministry’s policy statement on programming and pedagogy, and is reviewed annually.

Under the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA, 2014), the centre is committed to using How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (2014). This professional document is intended to support program development and to strengthen the quality of our program in which it focuses on four foundations that are essential for the healthy development of children:

Engagement
Expression
Well-Being

The following goals help guide our program to achieve the above four foundations.

Promote the health, safety, nutrition and well-being of children.
Support positive and responsive interactions among the children, parents, and educators.
Encourage the children to interact and communicate in a positive way and support their ability to self-regulate.
Foster the children’s exploration, play, and inquiry.
Provide child-initiated and adult-supported experiences
Plan for and create positive learning environments and experiences in which each child’s learning and development will be supported.
Incorporate indoor and outdoor play, as well as active play, rest, and quiet time, into the day, and give consideration to the individual needs of the children receiving child care.
Foster the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
Involve local community partners and allow those partners to support the children, their families, and staff.
Support educators and others who interact with the children at our centre to continuous professional learning.
Document and review the impact of strategies used to support the day care’s program statement.

Pre-Kindergarten Program - Prepare your child and get them ready for a full-day kindergarten program (i.e., early start on phonics and mathematics, daily practice on self-help and self-regulation skills, extracurricular activities such as Chinese Lesson, sign language lesson, etc.)
Parents Club events include Parenting Workshop, Parent and Children Game Nights, Sports Nights, and etc. This program is designed to help parents make new friends in a supportive and relaxing group setting, gain valuable information that will be of interest to the parents, understand how to build a stronger family structure based on Christian values.
We are a not-for-profit Christian Child Care Centre. Christian Education is our focus and to show how it is applicable to our everyday lives.
Presentation Development - Two to three times a year, your child is involved in various stage performances to bring out and develop his/her talent.
